Week of Compassion
Every year in February, "Week of Compassion" gets special attention, but the offering serves year-round in disaster relief and long-term development in the United States, Canada, and around the globe. Funding efforts are as diverse as water distribution in Flint, MI, and the refugee crisis in the Middle East and Europe, or earthquakes and flooding. Week of Compassion is one of the most cost-effective ways to donate with a tiny six to eight cents per dollar going to administrative costs.
Little Free Library
Stop by and see what we have to read at the Little Free Library! The Little Free Library increases access to books for those in our community who do not have the resources to go out and buy books for their home. Our Little Free Library is very special, as it was constructed from leftover materials from the reconstruction of our fire-damaged sanctuary. We are thankful to Joy and Barry Pendry for their hard work in maintaining our Little Free Library. We are always in need of Bibles, dictionaries, cookbooks, and children's books. Put your books in the Little Free Library outside (facing Fox's Pizza Den) or in the book basket next to the Church History Room.
Each year at Christmas, FCC puts up a Christmas tree with tags bearing the needs of people in our community. The project has focused on serving the elderly, many of whom are in nursing homes or elder care facilities, and would otherwise go without Christmas gifts during this season. Church members fill the needs on the tags, wrap the gifts, and return the gifts under the Angel Tree. It's the perfect way for the church to spread Christmas joy to those who otherwise might go without.
FCC of Sandersville helps support Camp Christian and Conference Center in Gordon, GA. Camp Christian provides an opportunity for children and adults to step away from daily routines and focus on their relationship with God. In the past, our church has helped with clean up day at the camp, collected supplies for summer camps, and our Disciples Men have stocked the pond with fish.
